Isaiah Williams 2005 WRLions' Isaiah Williams: Gets chance in Detroit
8m agoThe Lions signed Williams as an undrafted free agent Friday, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.
Williams is undersized at 5-9, 179 pounds, but as Twentyman notes, he was productive at Illinois with over 200 catches 200 for 2,295 and 14 touchdowns over the last three seasons. He now gets an opportunity to compete for a depth role with Detroit.

Dawson Deaton CLE CDawson Deaton: Let go by Browns
9h agoDeaton (knee) was waived by the Browns with a failed physical designation Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Deaton suffered a torn ACL in August of 2022 and is apparently still recovering from the issue. He'll first aim to get healthy and then search for a new opportunity around the league.

9h agoWagner participated in Las Vegas' offseason program Wednesday.
Wagner signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2023 but went down with a season-ending injury late in training camp. The issue wasn't disclosed, but he's back at full strength heading into 2024.

Mauga played in five games in 2023, contributing primarily on special teams. His campaign came to a close prematurely due to a knee injury, but it appears as if he's made a full recovery heading into 2024.

9h agoBrown participated in the Raiders' offseason program in late April.
Brown played in six games as a rookie in 2022, serving exclusively on special teams. His 2023 campaign ended abruptly after he was placed on injured reserve with an undisclosed issue at the close of training camp, but he'll seemingly enter the new campaign without any lingering issues.

Lammons appeared in four games in 2023 and bounced between the Colts' 53-man roster and practice squad. He ended the season nursing an ankle injury but is healthy again and set to battle for a roster spot in 2024, a context in which he'll face some increased competition from rookie Micah Abraham.

2m agoTovar went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Giants.
Tovar has been struggling to hit for power across the last few weeks, as he had only three extra-base hits (all doubles) across his last 21 starts entering Thursday's game. He managed to end that drought against the Giants, as he tallied both a double and a triple in the fourth inning when the Rockies batted around. For the season, Tovar has a decent .714 OPS, though that's come with a relatively empty three homers and three stolen bases.

Jack Leiter TEX SPRangers' Jack Leiter: Heads back to minors
4m agoThe Rangers optioned Leiter to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday.
Leiter was up as the 27th man during Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Athletics and got rocked for six runs (four earned) over four innings. Because he was the designated 27th man, the 15-day rule doesn't apply to Leiter, who remains an option to make a start next week versus the Guardians.

Reid Detmers LAA SPAngels' Reid Detmers: Another dreadful outing
5m agoDetmers (3-4) was hit with the loss against the Royals on Thursday, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings.
Detmers cruised through the first two innings before failing to retire either of the first four batters to open the third, eventually leading to four runs coming across for Kansas City. He was touched up again in the fifth for another two runs, marking his third consecutive outing in which he's allowed at least five runs. Surprisingly, the lefty has still managed to get through at least five innings in all eight of his starts this season despite his recent struggles, though he's now lost each of his last four decisions (spanning four starts).

Michael Wacha KC SPRoyals' Michael Wacha: Picks up second win
12m agoWacha (2-4) picked up the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and five walks over six innings. He struck out six.
Wacha produced three 1-2-3 innings and mostly avoided trouble up until the seventh when he allowed three runs to come across for the Angels. The right-hander issued a season-high five walks on the night, with the latter two sending runs home for Los Angeles. However, Wacha was still able to get through six innings for the first time in his last four starts while recording his first win since April 6 against the White Sox. He now carries an 8.38 ERA in May (two starts), posting a 9:6 K:BB over that stretch.

Steer delivered two runs on a two-out single in the bottom the seventh inning to tie the game before the Diamondbacks went ahead an inning later. He continues to produce with runners in scoring position, posting a .359 average and 1.022 OPS in such situations.

Elly De La Cruz CIN SSReds' Elly De La Cruz: Halts skid, steals two bags in loss
1h agoDe La Cruz went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, two steals, a run scored and was caught stealing in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Unsurprisingly, De La Cruz filled up the box score. His fourth-inning single snapped an 0-for-17 slide, and he later delivered a run as part of the Reds' three-run seventh inning to tie the game at 4-4. His aggressiveness on the bases was also on display, swiping his 22nd and 23rd bags; however, that aggression may have cost Cincinnati. After leading off the sixth with a walk and steal, De La Cruz was caught trying to take third base and was not in scoring position when Jake Fraley singled later in the frame. That aggressiveness is something manger David Bell tolerates from De La Cruz, as he told Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. "Right there, he did have more time, but we've also seen him get to third with no outs and lead to a run," Bell said.

11h agoTatum tallied 25 points (7-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and one steal over 38 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Tatum once again led Boston offensively in Game 2, pacing all Celtics in scoring while handing out a team-high half-dozen assists to go along with a team-best rebound total in a well-rounded outing. Tatum, who also connected on a team-leading total from the free-throw line, has surpassed the 20-point mark in five of his seven games this postseason, adding at least six rebounds and six assists in three outings.

11h agoBrown posted 19 points (7-17 FG, 0-6 3pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown struggled from deep in Thursday's contest, not connecting on a three but still ending second on the team in scoring in a near 20-point outing in a Game 2 defeat. Brown had a down game in comparison to Tuesday's 32-point showing in Game 1, and Boston will need the star forward to contribute more in order to steal a game on the road in Game 3 and break a series tie with Cleveland.

Payton Pritchard BOS PGCeltics' Payton Pritchard: Leads bench again in Game 2
11h agoPritchard notched 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and one steal over 20 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Pritchard once again provide a spark off the Celtics bench in Thursday's contest, leading all Boston bench players in scoring and assists while ending as one of five Celtics in double figures in scoring in a losing effort. Pritchard has had a strong semifinals series through two games, reaching double figures in both games while playing at least 20 minutes off the bench in both contests. It will be key for the Celtics to get contributions from Pritchard and the rest of the bench this series, and we will likely continue to see Pritchard earn a large chunk of minutes on the second unit.

Donovan Mitchell CLE SGCavaliers' Donovan Mitchell: Leads offensively in Game 2 victory
11h agoMitchell tallied 29 points (10-19 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight assists and seven rebounds over 40 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mitchell led Cleveland offensively in a bounce-back performance in Game 2 to even the series with Boston, leading all players in the contest in scoring, threes made and assists while ending one point shy of the 30-point mark in the road game. Mitchell has done it all for the Cavaliers through two games against the Celtics, averaging 31 points so far in the semifinals. Mitchell posted his first game of the postseason with at least seven rebounds and seven assists, also setting a playoff high in threes made in the victory.

Evan Mobley CLE PFCavaliers' Evan Mobley: Steps up with all-around Game 2
11h agoMobley recorded 21 points (9-15 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal over 33 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Mobley stepped up as the starting center while Jarrett Allen (ribs) remained out in Game 2, leading all players in the contest in rebounds and blocks to go along with a handful of assists while ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points in a double-double performance. Mobley is off to a hot start in the series against Boston, posting a double-double in both games thus far. If Mobley is able to continue to play well for Cleveland, that will provide a much-needed lift for the Cavaliers against a dominant Celtics squad.

11h agoLeVert ended with 21 points (9-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds and three assists over 27 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 win over the Celtics in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
LeVert made the most of his time off the bench in Game 2, ending as one of three Cavaliers with 20 or more points while helping Cleveland claim a much-needed victory to even the series against Boston. LeVert didn't connect on a three but still ended tied for second on the team in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and a trio of assists. LeVert had a bounce-back game after recording just four points in Tuesday's Game 1, playing a big part in Cleveland being able to steal a game on the road as it now returns home to try and take a lead in the series.

Andrew Cogliano COL CAvalanche's Andrew Cogliano: Bags apple in loss
8h agoCogliano recorded an assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Cogliano continues to chip in offense despite limited minutes in a fourth-line role. He has a helper in five of seven playoff games, though he's still yet to record a shot on goal. The 36-year-old forward has added four hits, four blocked shots and a plus-3 rating. Cogliano likely can't keep up this pace without generating some chances of his own.

8h agoManson posted an assist, four hits, three blocked shots and two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Manson set up a Joel Kiviranta tally in the third period. The 32-year-old Manson has been surprisingly reliable on offense this postseason, earning six points with 14 shots on net, 21 hits, 13 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating over seven appearances. That level of production has kept him in a top-four role for the Avalanche, and his physicality adds another layer of intrigue in his game, making him viable in DFS.

Colton snapped a three-game dry spell with the helper. He's up to four points, 12 shots on net, 27 hits, eight blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over seven playoff contests. Colton remains in a third-line role, and he's see more limited usage in the postseason. The 27-year-old can offer supplementary offense and plenty of physicality.

Casey Mittelstadt COL CAvalanche's Casey Mittelstadt: Collects helper in loss
8h agoMittelstadt recorded an assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Mittelstadt has gone six games without a goal, but he has six assists in that span. The 25-year-old is performing well from his second-line spot with seven points, 16 shots on net and a plus-4 rating over seven playoff outings. The Avalanche's top six continues to see small adjustments, but Mittelstadt has had no trouble regardless of who's on his wings, so he can be safely utilized in most DFS formats.

8h agoLehkonen notched an assist and five shots on goal in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
Lehkonen's seven-game point streak ended in Tuesday's Game 1, but he was right back on the scoresheet Thursday. He helped out on a Valeri Nichushkin tally in the third period. Lehkonen is up to five goals, four assists, 27 shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-3 rating through seven playoff contests. He continues to occupy a second-line role, providing solid depth scoring to relieve some of the pressure on the Avalanche's top forwards.

Kiviranta returned from a three-game absence due to a lower-body injury. His goal sparked the Avalanche's comeback attempt in the third period, but it fell short. The winger has two points, six shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-3 rating through four playoff appearances. He continues to occupy a bottom-six role, so his scoring contributions are likely to be minimal.
