Gerrid Doaks HOU RBGerrid Doaks: Cut by Houston
7h agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

As a senior at Florida Atlantic, Burton hauled in 24 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Miami's wide receiver depth chart will be tough to crack for any undrafted rookie ahead of 2024.

Camp did not see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at wide receiver in the draft, it opted to cut him. He'll now have to search for another chance with a different franchise.

8h agoCarolina waived Pierce on Friday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Pierce agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Panthers back in January, but they decided to let him go after adding talent at tight end in the draft. He'll now look for another chance with a new team.

8h agoThe Panthers waived Brown (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Brown didn't see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at running back in the draft, it has now decided to cut him loose. He'll revert to injured reserve assuming he clears waivers.

Deon Jackson NYG RBGiants' Deon Jackson: Done with Giants
8h agoThe Giants waived Jackson (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Jackson suited up for both Cleveland and Indianapolis in 2023, but he demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away and thus spent most of last season on the bench. If he clears waivers, he'll reverted to injured reserve.

8m agoFrazier went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 2-1 win over the Angels.
Frazier put the Royals ahead with his ninth-inning blast. The second baseman has gone 3-for-7 over his last two games after enduring an 0-for-15 skid over his previous six contests. Frazier's playing time has been irregular since he lost the starting job at the keystone to Michael Massey, but he's been able to draw in with time in the corner outfield and at designated hitter. Frazier's at a .188/.309/.250 slash line with one homer, eight RBI, eight runs scored, a stolen base and two doubles through 94 plate appearances this season, so his lack of an everyday role shouldn't come as a surprise.

Tyler Duffey KC RPRoyals' Tyler Duffey: Snags first win
13m agoDuffey (1-0) pitched a perfect inning and earned the win over the Angels on Friday.
The Royals saved their offense for late, and Duffey ended up benefiting from it after keeping the deficit to one run in the eighth inning. He's kept runs off the board in four of his six major-league appearances this season. The right-hander has a 4.05 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB over 6.2 innings while adding one hold, though he's primarily served as a low-leverage option.

18m agoWinn went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Friday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers.
Winn appears to be finding his swing again -- he's gone 4-for-14 (.286) over his last five contests. He's still gone 20 games without a multi-hit effort after having seven of them in his first 15 contests this season. The shortstop is 6-for-7 on stolen base attempts and is batting .267 with a .683 OPS through 120 plate appearances on the year.

Nolan Gorman STL 2BCardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers off bench Friday
20m agoGorman hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat in Friday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers.
Gorman entered the game as a defensive replacement after the Brewers turned it into a rout. Gorman's ninth-inning blasted ended his 0-for-14 skid that spanned all of May prior to Friday. The second baseman is slashing a meager .179/.262/.350 with five homers, 13 RBI, nine runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 130 plate appearances. Gorman began the year in a near-everyday role at the keystone, but he's now sat out against the last three southpaws the Cardinals have faced, with Jose Fermin picking up the playing time. Gorman had reverse splits last season and that has carried over into 2024, but he's simply not hitting well enough overall to justify a full-time role at this point of the season.

Tyler Freeman CLE CFGuardians' Tyler Freeman: Swats fourth homer
25m agoFreeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the White Sox.
Freeman hasn't been able to turn his hitting around in May -- he's gone 4-for-26 (.154) through nine games this month and is batting just .193 on the year. His homer Friday was his first since April 19, and two of his hits in May have gone for extra bases. The 24-year-old has four homers, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored and four steals through 126 plate appearances. It's fair to question whether Freeman has earned his near-everyday role, but the Guardians are unlikely to shake things up too dramatically while Steven Kwan (hamstring) is out.

29m agoRamirez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the White Sox.
Ramirez has gone 8-for-23 (.348) over his last six games, and half of his hits in that span have left the yard. He started the year slowly from a power standpoint, but the third baseman is up to nine homers, 33 RBI and a .471 slugging percentage through 38 contests thanks to his recent surge. He's still a little light for batting average (.245), but that's nothing to be concerned about while he's squaring up well.

Michael Porter Jr. DEN SFNuggets' Michael Porter: Strong from deep in 20-point Game 3
2h agoPorter ended with 21 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 30 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter provided a nice lift offensively for Denver in its first win of the conference semifinals, leading all Nuggets in threes made while ending as one of three players with 20 or more points in Game 3. Porter had a bounce-back performance after failing to reach double figures in scoring in Game 2, now posting 20 or more points in two of the three games against Minnesota.

Nikola Jokic DEN CNuggets' Nikola Jokic: Nears triple-double in Game 3 win
2h agoJokic notched 24 points (10-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 14 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic did a little bit of everything for Denver in a much-needed Game 3 win on the road, leading all players in Friday's contest in rebounds, assists and blocks while adding a team-high-tying trio of steals and concluding as one of three Nuggets with 20 or more points. Jokic, who ended one dime shy of a triple-double, tallied his second straight double-double while posting at least 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in every game of the conference semifinals thus far. Jokic looked much more comfortable in Game 3 than we saw earlier in the series, which could be great news for Denver as it tries to even the series.

2h agoMurray finished with 24 points (11-21 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five assist, four rebounds and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray came out of the gates with a sense of urgency and a prove-it mentality in Friday's much-needed with for Denver, posting a team-high-tying scoring total and leading all players in the contest in shots made while tallying a team-high-tying pair of steals in a balanced outing. Murray, who notched his only single-digit game of the postseason in Game 2, bounced back with a big performance for the Nuggets in order to get back into the series against the Timberwolves. Murray has surpassed the 20-point mark in six of his eight playoff contests thus far.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Leader from deep in Game 3 loss
2h agoTowns posted 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 33 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns didn't get much going offensively outside of connecting on a team-high mark from three, ending the contest as one of four players with a double-digit point total to go along with a handful of rebounds in a losing effort. Towns failed to reach the 15-point mark for just the second time of the postseason, having scored at least 20 points in each of the first two games against Denver. Towns will have to come out in Game 4 looking for more opportunities offensively and displaying more aggressiveness if Minnesota wants to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

Anthony Edwards MIN SGTimberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Nears 20 points as top scorer
2h agoEdwards recorded 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), six rebounds, five assists and one block over 37 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards did all he could to help Minnesota climb back into Friday's contest, leading all Timberwolves players in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and handful of assists in a balanced outing. Edwards tallied his lowest point total of the conference semifinals, taking a bit of a step back after a pair of impressive performances in Denver earlier in the series. Look for Edwards to step up and lead Minnesota in Game 4 as it attempts to make a statement at home and take a 3-1 lead over Denver.

Rudy Gobert MIN CTimberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Quiet outing return in Game 3
2h agoGobert tallied six points (3-5 FG, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 27 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gobert returned in Game 3 after missing the previous contest due to the birth of his child, putting forth a quiet outing in Minnesota's first loss of the postseason. Gobert failed to reach double figures in both points and rebounds, not tallying 10 or more boards for the third time of the postseason while not crossing the double-digit scoring mark for the third time. In order for Minnesota to bounce back in Sunday's Game 4, Gobert will have to put together a much stronger showing than he did Friday in Minneapolis.

David Pastrnak BOS RWBruins' David Pastrnak: Secondary assist in loss
1h agoPastrnak had an assist in Friday's 6-2 home loss to the Panthers.
Pastrnak helped out on a Jake DeBrusk goal with a secondary assist in the Game 3 loss. The superstar winger also added three shots on goal, two hits and a plus-1 rating in 21:09 of ice time. More importantly, it was good to see Pastrnak feeling no ill-effects after fighting Florida's Matthew Tkachuk in Game 2. Pastrnak and the Bruins will look to even up the series at two apiece Sunday in Boston.

Bruins' Mason Lohrei: Primary helper in loss
2h agoLohrei registered an even-strength assist in Friday's 6-2 loss to Florida.
Lohrei had the primary helper on a Jake DeBrusk goal in the third period that cut Florida's lead to two. The 23-year-old Louisiana native also added one shot, one hit and one block in 20:13 of ice time. The young blueliner is making a name for himself this postseason -- Lohrei is up to one goal and three assists in eight games to go along with a plus-2 rating. Lohrei's next chance to help Boston's offensive production will come Sunday in Game 4.

Jake DeBrusk BOS LWBruins' Jake DeBrusk: Goal and assist in loss
2h agoDeBrusk scored a goal and added a helper in Friday's 6-2 loss to the Panthers.
DeBrusk helped out on a Jakub Lauko tally before adding a goal of his own in the third period. DeBrusk's contributions helped give the Bruins and their fans life by cutting the lead to two, but it wasn't enough to overcome the four-goal deficit against Florida. The 27-year-old also added one shot on net, one block and six hits in 17:50 of ice time. DeBrusk is up to four goals and two assists in nine games so far this postseason.

Sam Bennett FLA CPanthers' Sam Bennett: Assist in return to lineup
2h agoBennett (upper body) produced a primary assist in his return to the lineup in Friday's 6-2 win over Boston.
Bennett's return to the lineup paid immediate dividends for the Panthers -- the second-line center registered an assist on Vladimir Tarasenko's goal late in the second period. The 27-year-old also threw 7 hits in 12:43 of ice time. Bennett's ice time will presumably increase in the coming games as he readjusts to the pace of playoff hockey. Overall this postseason, Bennett has one goal and two assists in three games.

Evan Rodrigues FLA CPanthers' Evan Rodrigues: Two goals in win
3h agoRodrigues potted two goals in Friday's 6-2 road victory over Boston.
Rodrigues opened the scoring in Game 3 with an even-strength goal that came right after a Florida power-play ended. He also finished the scoring with a goal in the final minute of the third period. Rodrigues is the perfect example of a depth player that Florida will need to keep contributing if they want to go on a deep Stanley Cup run. Rodrigues has three goals and an assist in eight games so far this postseason.

Brandon Montour FLA DPanthers' Brandon Montour: Two more points in win
3h agoMontour registered a goal and an assist in Friday's 6-2 road victory over the Bruins.
Montour is on a heater right now, he's racked up five points (two goals) over the last two games. He scored on the power-play early in the third period to put the Panthers up by four. The 30-year-old added an assist on Sam Reinhart's empty-net tally to help seal the game. Overall this postseason, Montour has three goals and five assists in eight games. The pending unrestricted free agent will look to keep it rolling in Game 4.
