5h agoThe Saints signed Patrick (calf) to a one-year contract Sunday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Patrick appeared in 23 games with 20 starts over the past two seasons with Chicago. The 30-year-old was the team's starting center for almost the entire 2023 campaign, but he ended the year on IR due to an unspecified calf injury. Whe the nature of this issue was never revealed, Patrick now appears to be healthy again. He should now provide depth along the interior of New Orleans' offensive line.

5h agoThe Buccaneers signed Jefferson on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Jefferson was one of 26 players brought in on a tryout basis during Tampa Bay's rookie minicamp Friday and Saturday. The 5-foot-10 running back played at four different schools during his collegiate career, beginning at Maine in 2017. He spent his final two seasons with Kentucky after a standout stint at FCS Sam Houston, where he logged 1,907 yards on 299 carries across two years. However, he finished with just 28 rushes for 184 yards across 11 games with the Wildcats in 2023.

9h agoThe Lions are signing Davis to a contract after he attended rookie camp on a tryout basis, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Davis was waived by the Cardinals in late April after spending most of last year on the team's practice squad. He was active for one contest during the campaign but didn't see any snaps. The 25-year-old will get a shot to compete for a roster spot among a wide-receiver corps that is headed by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.

Olumuyiwa Fashanu NYJ OTJets' Olumuyiwa Fashanu: Recovering from quad injury
10h agoFashanu strained his quadriceps while running the 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine and could miss some or all of OTAs due to the injury, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Rosenblatt described the injury as minor, so Fashanu should be recovered well before the start of the regular season, but the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft may not be ready to join his new teammates at the start of offseason workouts. The offensive tackle out of Penn State has been working off to the side with trainers during the Jets' rookie minicamp.

1d agoDupree will sign a two-year contract with the Chargers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Dupree reportedly met with both the Falcons and Steelers recently in addition to the Chargers, and it appears that he'll end up with Los Angeles. The veteran edge rusher enjoyed a solid bounce-back campaign with Atlanta last season, recording 39 tackles (his most since 2019), including 6.5 sacks (his most since 2020). Dupree will add to an already formidable Chargers pass rush that also includes Joey Bosa (foot), Khalil Mack and Tuli Tuipulotu.

1d agoThe Panthers waived Parker with an undisclosed non-football injury Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The details and severity of Parker's injury are unknown, other than the fact that it did not occur on the football field. The cornerback will now be available to be claimed off waivers should any other teams show interest.

Brendan Rodgers COL 2BRockies' Brendan Rodgers: Gets aboard three times
5m agoRodgers went 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.
Rodgers has hit safely in seven straight games, and four of those have been multi-hit performances. He's gone 11-for-27 (.407) in that span, but he's also logged just one extra-base hit, a double, during the streak. Rodgers had a mostly inconsistent start to the campaign, but he's up to a decent .268/.316/.354 slash line with one home run, eight RBI, 14 runs scored, six doubles and a triple through 36 contests. It's not a great line, but the second baseman could still find his power again with his home games at hitter-friendly Coors Field, though he's also sporting a 25.0 percent strikeout rate, his highest in four years.

6m agoBello (4-1) picked up the win Sunday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings against the Nationals. He struck out one.
Bello picked up right where he left off before going on the IL with a lat injury, tallying a third straight win and yielding fewer than three earned runs for a fourth consecutive outing. The two runs charged against Bello came in the fourth when Eddie Rosario swatted a two-run home run. Despite the long ball, Bello was extremely efficient, getting through five innings on 68 pitches. Bello's restrictions should lighten throughout his next few starts, beginning with a road bout with the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Ezequiel Tovar COL SSRockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Homers early in win
9m agoTovar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.
The Rockies got to Jose Urena early in the first inning, and Tovar's blast was ultimately all they needed in the win. The shortstop has hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-26 (.308) with four extra-base hits in that span. For the season, he's at a .266/.308/.411 with four homers, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine doubles and a triple over 39 contests.

Jalen Beeks COL RPRockies' Jalen Beeks: Earns third save
14m agoBeeks allowed two hits in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Rangers. He did not strike out or walk a batter.
Beeks erased the first hit by inducing a double play, and he was able to finish the outing without too much danger. Unlike his save Friday, Beeks appeared to be the first option for closing -- Justin Lawrence hadn't pitched since Friday and was not used Saturday or earlier in Sunday's game. Through 19.1 innings this season, Beeks has a 2.33 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 14:8 K:BB with three saves, a blown save, one hold and a 2-2 record. The southpaw's lack of dominance makes him an outlier in terms of a closer profile, but it looks like he'll get his chances anyway in the Rockies' committee situation after starting the year well.

Ty Blach COL RPRockies' Ty Blach: Grabs win Sunday
19m agoBlach (1-1) allowed one run on seven hits and struck out two without walking a batter over five innings to earn the win Sunday over the Rangers.
Blach limited the damage to a run-scoring single by Adolis Garcia in the first inning. This was Blach's second start of the campaign, and he was able to throw 70 pitches (46 strikes) in a fairly efficient performance. The 33-year-old is at a 3.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB over 18 innings across five appearances in 2024. Blach has never been a pitcher known for racking up strikeouts, and his tenuous grip on a spot in the rotation, coupled with a challenging home park, will make him a risky fantasy option. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at San Francisco.

Jack Flaherty DET SPTigers' Jack Flaherty: Another quality start Sunday
20m agoFlaherty (0-3) was tagged with a loss after he pitched 6.2 innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits while striking out seven batters in Sunday's 9-3 defeat to Houston.
Flaherty opened Sunday's contest by firing five scoreless innings before Kyle Tucker launched a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning. The Astros scratched across another run on him in the seventh frame before the right-hander's day came to an end with two outs in the inning. The performance marked his third straight quality start and sixth of the season over eight outings. Flaherty now owns a 3.88 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 63 strikeouts over 48.2 innings in eight starts in 2024 and he'll look to earn his first win of the year in his next projected start Saturday on the road in Arizona.

Murray has been dealing with a calf injury throughout the series and is yet to miss a game, so it isn't surprising to see him shed another questionable tag. After struggling in the first two games of the series, Murray bounced back in Game 3 with a 24-point outing on solid efficiency, and he will look to carry that momentum over to Sunday's matchup.

It was another light workload in net for the Russian netminder -- this was the third consecutive matchup that Boston has failed to top 18 shots on goal. Bobrovsky was beaten twice in the first period but kept the door shut over the final 40 minutes of the contest. It's also the third straight game that the 35-year-old goaltender has allowed two goals or less. Overall this postseason, Bobrovsky is 7-2 with a 2.55 GAA and an .892 save percentage. Game 5 of this series is Tuesday in Florida.
