Kiran Amegadjie CHI OT
Bears' Kiran Amegadjie: Likely out for OTAs and camp
2m agoAmegadjie likely won't participate in OTAs or in rookie minicamp due to a quadriceps injury he sustained prior to the draft, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
It's likely Chicago was aware Amegadjie wouldn't be fully ready to go right from the jump, so it's probably too early to start ringing any alarm bells. Once ready, he'll compete for reps at tackle with Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright.

Terrell Bynum IND WR
Terrell Bynum: Done with Colts
13m agoIndianapolis waived Bynum on Friday.
Bynum initially signed with the Colts back in January, but after adding talent at wide receiver in the draft, they decided to part ways with him. He'll now have to look for his next opportunity with a new team.

Zay Jones JAC WR
Cardinals' Zay Jones: Interesting landing spot in Arizona
1h agoJones and the Cardinals agreed to terms Friday on a contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Jones' deal is reportedly a one-year contract worth up to $4.25 million, per Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com. The big-bodied veteran was released by Jacksonville after the team's selection of Brian Thomas in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he now finds a landing spot in the desert with a clear spot to starting in three-wide sets. No. 4 overall pick Marvin Harrison profiles as the alpha in Arizona's wideout room, while tight end Trey McBride could be quarterback Kyler Murray's second most trusted playmaker, but Jones could well solidify himself over Michael Wilson. Jones was limited to nine games last season, but in 2022 he logged a 82-823-5 receiving line on 121 targets.

Aidan O'Connell LV QB
Raiders' Aidan O'Connell: Early leader in competition
2h agoCoach Antonio Pierce said O'Connell will take the first snap over Gardner Minshew in the Raiders' upcoming quarterback competition, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN reports.
Pierce praised O'Connell's work so far this offseason, mentioning how he's "changing his body, his work ethic, being here every day, blocking out the outside noise." He did also talk up Minshew and make it clear that Las Vegas considers the starting role up for grabs, saying a quarterback competition is good for motivation across the roster. As a rookie last season O'Connell led the Raiders to a 5-5 record, and this offseason he'll work to take a step forward and build increased chemistry with Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, plus rookie tight end Brock Bowers.
-
Caleb Williams CHI QB
Bears' Caleb Williams: Officially named starting QB
4h agoCoach Matt Eberflus named Williams' the Bears' starting quarterback at rookie minicamp Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Williams, the No. 1 overall pick of April's draft, was always a lock to start Week 1 over Tyson Bagent or Brett Rypien, but the team has wasted no time making Williams' position official, with Friday being the first day of on-field workouts for rookies. That allows Williams to immediately begin familiarizing himself with Chicago's offensive scheme without having to worry about splitting any reps. He can start establishing chemistry with fellow top-10 selection Rome Odunze during rookie camp, while veterans DJ Moore and Keenan Allen -- who both worked out with Williams and Odunze during the pre-draft process -- stand to arrive at team facilities for the start of OTAs.

Tarik Cohen CAR RB
Tarik Cohen: Released by Carolina
5h agoThe Panthers released Cohen on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 2017 fourth-round pick was an effective passing-down back and punt returner for three full seasons before suffering an ACL tear Week 3 of 2020. He hasn't played in a game since, with an Achilles' tear in May 2022 further setting him back. Cohen spent most of last season on Carolina's practice squad, where he dealt with a hamstring injury for nearly two months and never earned a promotion to the roster. He'll turn 29 this summer and still has plenty of time to find another team before training camp if he wants to continue pursuing an NFL career.

Chad Green TOR RP
Blue Jays' Chad Green: Throws bullpen
6m agoGreen (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Friday's bullpen marks Green's first action off a mound since being placed on the injured list Apr. 20 and marks a significant step in his recovery from a right shoulder strain. At this pace, Green could be back in action later this month.
-
Riley O'Brien STL RP
Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Transferred to 60-day IL
9m agoO'Brien (forearm) was moved to the 60-day injured list Friday, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
O'Brien's transfer to the 60-day IL makes room on the 40-man roster for Kolton Ingram, who was acquired off waivers. O'Brien was close to starting his throwing program in mid-April, but no updates have been provided since. He'll be eligible for reinstatement May 30, though it's likely he won't be ready for immediate action.
-
J.B. Bukauskas MIL RP
Brewers' J.B. Bukauskas: Moved to 60-day IL
11m agoThe Brewers transferred Bukauskas (triceps) to the 60-day injured list Friday.
The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster. Bukauskas has been sidelined since mid-April with a right triceps strain and now won't be eligible to return until mid-June.
-
Kevin Kiermaier TOR CF
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Dealing with illness
11m agoKiermaier is out of the lineup Friday against the Twins due to an illness, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Kiermaier started three of four games since he returned from the injured list due to hip inflammation last weekend, but he's now feeling under the weather. Daulton Varsho will shift to center field while Davis Schneider and Cavan Biggio man the corner outfield spots.
-
Bo Naylor CLE C
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Not among starters
13m agoNaylor is not included in the starting lineup for Friday's outing against the White Sox.
The lefty catcher will get some rest as the Guardians take on southpaw starter Garrett Crochet. Austin Hedges will take over at catcher and bat ninth in place of Naylor.
-
Tobias Myers MIL RP
Brewers' Tobias Myers: Sent down to minors
13m agoThe Brewers optioned Myers to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
The transaction comes one day after Myers was charged with one run on three hits and four walks over four innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals. Myers should be under consideration for future starts with the Brewers but for now will rejoin Nashville's rotation.
-
Ty Jerome CLE SG
Cavaliers' Ty Jerome: Remains sidelined
1m agoJerome (ankle) is out for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics.
Jerome hasn't played since Oct. 27 due to a right ankle injury. It appears unlikely he will suit up this postseason.
-
Jarrett Allen CLE C
Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Gets another questionable tag
1m agoAllen (ribs) is questionable for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics.
Allen has missed five straight games and was listed as questionable ahead of each of them, so his current status doesn't provide increased optimism. The Cavaliers were surprisingly able to even the series with a Game 2 victory Thursday, and the potential return of their star big man would be another major momentum shift, especially with Kristaps Porzingis (calf) expected to be sidelined for at least a few more games. However, if Allen remains sidelined, Isaac Okoro would likely draw another start.
-
Dean Wade CLE PF
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Iffy for Game 3
4m agoWade (knee) is listed as questionable for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics.
Wade hasn't played since March 8 due to a right knee sprain. If Wade is upgraded to available, it remains to be seen how he will be featured in Cleveland's playoff rotation.
-
Jalen Brunson NY PG
Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Expected to play Friday
42m agoBrunson (foot) will likely go through warmups and play in Friday's Game 3 against the Pacers, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
Brunson is officially listed as questionable for Friday's contest due to right foot soreness but is expected to suit up. The star guard is averaging 35.6 points, 8.1 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 42.4 minutes across his eight appearances so far these playoffs.
-
Jalen Williams OKC SF
Thunder's Jalen Williams: Scores 20 points in Game 2 defeat
5h agoWilliams closed with 20 points (7-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 39 minutes during Thursday's 119-110 loss to the Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Williams was the Thunder's second-best scoring option behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but his solid two-way contributions were not enough to lift Oklahoma City to a 2-0 series lead. Williams has been outstanding in the playoffs and has confirmed the improvements he evidenced during the regular season. Through six postseason appearances, he's averaging 20.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49 percent from the field.
-
Josh Giddey OKC PG
Thunder's Josh Giddey: Struggles badly once again
5h agoGiddey closed Thursday's 119-110 loss to the Mavericks in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals with eight points (3-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds over 11 minutes.
Giddey's minutes continue to decrease with each passing game, and it wouldn't be surprising if he moves to a bench role ahead of Game 3 given how much he's struggled on both ends of the court. He delivered good numbers against the Pelicans, but in the two outings against Dallas, he's averaging 5.0 points while shooting 40 percent from the floor across 14 minutes.
-
Mika Zibanejad NYR C
Rangers' Mika Zibanejad: Extend scoring streak to 13 games
33m agoZibanejad registered a shorthanded assist in a 3-2 overtime victory over Carolina in Game 3 on Thursday.
Zibanejad helped out Chris Kreider midway through the second period to even the score at 1-1. The 31-year-old Zibanejad is on a 13-game scoring streak dating back to the regular season in which he's provided five goals and 20 points -- that run includes three goals and 12 points across seven playoff outings this year. Zibanejad figures to continue to play a critical role on the Rangers' first line and top power-play unit.
-
Brady Skjei CAR D
Hurricanes' Brady Skjei: Supplies assist in Game 3
38m agoSkjei collected an assist in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss against the Rangers in Game 3.
Skjei has recorded a helper in consecutive contests, bringing him up to seven assists in eight playoff outings this year. This has been his most successful postseason run in terms of personal offensive production. His previous career high in playoff points came in 2017 when he recorded four goals and five points across 12 outings as a member of the Rangers. However, his offensive output hasn't been enough to push Carolina past his former team -- New York has a 3-0 series lead going into Game 4 on Saturday.
-
Arturs Silovs VAN G
Canucks' Arturs Silovs: In goal Friday
2h agoSilovs will be between the home pipes against Edmonton in Game 2 on Friday, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.
Silovs was far from perfect in Game 1, giving up four goals on 18 shots (.788 save percentage) but still managed to pick up the victory. In his four postseason appearances, the young netminder is 3-1 with a 2.28 GAA, .908 save percentage and one shutout. If Thatcher Demko (knee) is cleared to play at some point in this series, he will likely supplant Silovs as the No. 1 option in the crease.
-
Sebastian Aho CAR LW
Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Picks up assist Thursday
2h agoAho recorded an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 3 on Thursday.
Aho helped on Andrei Svechnikov's game-tying marker late in the third period, but his efforts ultimately failed to prevent Carolina from falling behind 3-0 in the second round. Although the Hurricanes have come up short against the Rangers, Aho has excelled with six assists through three contests in the series. That gives him two goals and nine points across eight playoff outings this year after setting a career high of 89 points (36 goals) in 78 regular-season games.
-
Dmitry Orlov CAR D
Hurricanes' Dmitry Orlov: On three-game scoring streak
2h agoOrlov registered an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers in Game 3 on Thursday.
Orlov extended his point streak to three games, giving him a goal and two assists in that span. He's up to four points (two markers) in eight playoff outings this year after finishing the regular season with six goals and 26 points across 82 appearances. Orlov is serving primarily on the third pairing without and is seldom used on the power play, but he's getting plenty of work despite that unglamorous assignment -- Orlov has averaged 21:18 of ice time in the 2024 postseason.
-
Sam Bennett FLA C
Panthers' Sam Bennett: Game-time call
4h agoBennett (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Friday's Game 3 versus the Bruins.
Bennett picked up two points through the first two games of Florida's first-round series versus Tampa Bay before missing the team's next five contests with an upper-body injury. If he's able to return Friday, look for Bennett to center the second line while seeing time with the first power-play unit against Boston.
