David Long NYG DB
Giants' David Long: Finds new home
3h agoLong signed a contract with the Giants on Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Long struggled to find a home in 2023. After four years with the Rams, the 2019 third-round selection spent time with the Packers, Panthers and Raiders, appearing in a total of 14 games. He'll now work to make the most of his fresh opportunity in the Big Apple.

Alijah Vera-Tucker NYJ OG
Jets' Alijah Vera-Tucker: Making progress
3h agoVera-Tucker (Achilles) is "feeling good" and is "definitely on pace for a good start to the season," Caroline Hendershot of the Jets' official site reports.
Vera-Tucker suffered a torn Achilles on Oct. 8 against the Broncos, but it sounds like the veteran offensive lineman has a chance to be ready to compete once training camp comes around. Despite playing right tackle for the team last season, their selection of Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the 2024 Draft and trade for Morgan Moses, suggests Vera-Tucker may move inside and play guard in 2024.

Jaylon Carlies IND DB
Colts' Jaylon Carlies: Moving to linebacker
3h agoCarlies is expected to transition to linebacker after playing safety in college, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
There were questions about Carlies coverage ability coming out of Missouri and entering the 2024 Draft, but his speed and playmaking skills still earned him a fifth-round selection by the Colts. Due to those skills, along with his ability to tackle, the transition to linebacker makes sense for the 22-year-old.

Daniel Scott IND SAF
Colts' Daniel Scott: Enters competition
3h agoScott (knee) will have an opportunity to earn the Colts' starting free safety job, according to defensive coordinator Gus Bradley,James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Scott was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 Draft, but he missed the entirety of his rookie campaign after he suffered a torn ACL during OTAs last June. It's still not clear when the California product will be 100 percent, or if he is already, but it appears the team believes he'll be healthy enough to compete for a starting job in 2024.

Kyler Murray ARI QB
Cardinals' Kyler Murray: New target in form of Harrison
3h agoMurray will be throwing to a new No. 1 wide receiver in 2024 and beyond after the Cardinals selected Marvin Harrison, fourth overall, in this year's draft.
Murray's 2023 debut was delayed due to a torn ACL in his right knee that he suffered Dec. 12, 2022. Upon his return Week 10, he started the final eight games of the campaign, completing 176 of 268 passes (65.7 percent) for 1,799 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing 44 times for 244 yards and three more TDs. By the end of the season, second-year TE Trey McBride had transformed into Murray's favorite target, and after the offseason departure of Marquise Brown (Chiefs), the quarterback was in search of a dynamic weapon in the passing game. The arrival of Harrison provides just that for Murray, who also will have RB James Conner and WR Michael Wilson at his disposal.
-
Rodney Thomas II IND SAF
Colts' Rodney Thomas: Facing competition
3h agoThomas isn't guaranteed to be the Colts' starting free safety in 2024, according to defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Thomas started 15 of the 17 games he appeared in last season, but that doesn't mean he'll maintain that role this year. Bradley stated that both Daniel Scott (knee) and Nick Cross will have the opportunity to take the job from Thomas.

Jacob Amaya HOU SS
Astros' Jacob Amaya: Recalled from Triple-A
9m agoThe Astros recalled Amaya from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
With Chas McCormick (hamstring) headed for the 10-day IL, Amaya will come up from the minors to give the Astros an additional bench bat. However, the 25-year-old infielder is slashing just .190/.297/.302 across 74 plate appearances at Triple-A, so he likely won't see much playing time while with Houston.
-
Joely Rodriguez BOS RP
Red Sox's Joely Rodriguez: Clears waivers
16m agoRodriguez cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Worcester, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Rodriguez was designated for assignment Sunday after posting a 6.55 ERA and 1.55 WHIP across 11 innings with the Red Sox. The 32-year-old southpaw will now officially remain with the organization, but he will not have the benefit of a 40-man roster spot and will likely need to show significant improvement in the minors before getting another shot in Boston.
-
Yainer Diaz HOU C
Astros' Yainer Diaz: Takes seat Wednesday
17m agoDiaz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
Diaz will rest after he had drawn starts in each of the past six games (four at catcher, two at designated hitter). Victor Caratini will replace Diaz behind the dish Wednesday.
-
Trey Cabbage HOU LF
Astros' Trey Cabbage: Returns from Triple-A
21m agoThe Astros recalled Cabbage from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Cabbage was returned to Triple-A after serving as the 27th man for the Astros' two-game series with the Rockies in Mexico City last weekend, but he'll be back with the big club just two days later after Houston optioned struggling first baseman Jose Abreu to their spring training facility. While he's up with the Astros, Cabbage will provide depth in the corner outfield and at first base.
-
Garrett Cooper BOS DH
Red Sox's Garrett Cooper: Sitting Wednesday
21m agoCooper (wrist) isn't in the Red Sox's lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
Cooper will get a day to recover after taking a pitch off his right wrist during Tuesday's contest. While he sits, Dominic Smith will make his Red Sox debut at first base and bat seventh.
-
Bo Naylor CLE C
Guardians' Bo Naylor: Getting Wednesday off
24m agoNaylor is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Naylor started at catcher in each of the past three games, so he's presumably just getting a rest day Wednesday. David Fry will get the nod behind the plate in Naylor's place.
-
Al Horford BOS C
Celtics' Al Horford: Starting sans Porzingis
19m agoHorford will enter the starting lineup for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Heat.
Horford played 34 minutes in Game 4 with Kristaps Porzingis (calf) going down with an injury in the first half. With Porzingis sidelined Wednesday -- and likely longer -- Horford will step into the starting center role, where he's expected to remain until Porzingis returns.
-
Delon Wright MIA SG
Heat's Delon Wright: Starting Game 5
23m agoWright will enter the starting lineup for Wednesday's Game 5 against Boston, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Wright will enter the first unit in place of Jaime Jacquez (hip) for just his second start of the season. The guard has been a sizeable part of the rotation throughout the series, averaging 8.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 25.0 minutes per game and should see an even larger workload Wednesday.
-
Patrick Beverley MIL PG
Bucks' Patrick Beverley: Probable for Game 6
2h agoBeverley (oblique) is probable for Thursday's Game 6 against Indiana.
Beverley is dealing with an oblique injury once again, but he played through the issue in Tuesday's Game 5 and tallied 13 points, 12 assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block in 36 minutes. Damian Lillard (Achilles) is doubtful for Thursday's matchup, so if Beverley is available, he'll likely have plenty of chances to contribute.
-
Khris Middleton MIL SF
Bucks' Khris Middleton: Considered probable
2h agoMiddleton (ankle) is probable for Thursday's Game 6 against the Pacers.
Middleton sprained his right ankle in Game 2 but continues to play through the pain and will likely do so again Thursday. Over the last three matchups, Middleton has carried the Bucks, averaging 32.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 40.3 minutes per game. With Damian Lillard (calf) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) both doubtful, Middleton should be in store for a hefty workload during Game 6.
-
Tyrese Haliburton IND PG
Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton: Questionable for Thursday's game
2h agoHaliburton (back) is questionable for Thursday's Game 6 against Milwaukee.
Haliburton has also been on the injury report ahead of the last two matchups but suited up and averaged 20.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 33.0 minutes per game over those appearances. If he's available again Thursday as the Pacers attempt to clinch the series, he'll likely be able to handle a sizable workload.
-
Damian Lillard MIL PG
Bucks' Damian Lillard: Listed as doubtful again
2h agoLillard (Achilles) is doubtful for Thursday's Game 6 against the Pacers, Pat Boylan of Bally Sports Indiana reports.
Lillard is listed as doubtful for a third straight matchup after aggravating a right Achilles injury during Game 3. Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) is also doubtful, so Bobby Portis and Malik Beasley should remain in the starting lineup. The Bucks had a valiant effort in Game 5 at home to extend the series, led by Portis and Khris Middleton (ankle), but they still need to win back-to-back games to advance to the second round.
-
Radek Faksa DAL C
Stars' Radek Faksa: Out again Wednesday
25m agoFaksa (undisclosed) won't suit up for Wednesday's Game 5 versus the Golden Knights, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Faksa will miss a third straight game despite being labeled a game-time call each time. The 30-year-old will likely take on a fourth-line role once he's cleared to return, though it's unclear when that may be.
-
Mason Marchment DAL LW
Stars' Mason Marchment: Not playing in Game 5
27m agoMarchment (undisclosed) won't play in Wednesday's Game 5 versus the Golden Knights, Lia Assimakopoulos of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Marchment was once again labeled a game-time decision, but he'll sit out a third straight contest. His next chance to play is Friday's Game 6 in Vegas.
-
Jake Oettinger DAL G
Stars' Jake Oettinger: Starting Game 5
29m agoOettinger will guard the home goal versus the Golden Knights in Wednesday's Game 5, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
Oettinger recovered from losing the first two games of the series in Dallas by winning the next two in Vegas. He'll look to keep that momentum going back on home ice in a pivotal Game 5. Oettinger has allowed 10 goals on 108 shots over the first four contests of the first round.
-
David Rittich LA G
Kings' David Rittich: Set to start Wednesday
5h agoRittich is slated to start on the road against Edmonton in Game 5 on Wednesday, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports.
Rittich is getting his second straight start after saving 12 of 13 shots in a 1-0 loss to Edmonton in Game 4 on Sunday. Edmonton has a potent offense, which ranked fourth in the 2023-24 campaign with 3.56 goals per game, so the Oilers will probably fire considerably more shots in the upcoming tilt. Rittich had a 13-6-3 record, 2.15 GAA and .921 save percentage in 24 regular-season contests.
-
Stuart Skinner EDM G
Oilers' Stuart Skinner: Set to face Kings
5h agoSkinner is expected to start at home against LA in Game 5 on Wednesday, per Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton.
Skinner earned a 33-save shutout over the Kings in Game 4 and has stopped 60 of 61 shots (.984 save percentage) over his last two starts. That gives him a 3-1 record, 2.48 GAA and .919 save percentage in four playoff contests this year. The 25-year-old was streaky in the regular season, finishing with a 36-16-5 record, 2.62 GAA and .905 save percentage in 59 appearances, but Skinner seems to be on a roll with a chance to eliminate the Kings up for grabs.

Brett Pesce CAR D
Hurricanes' Brett Pesce: Might play in second round
6h agoPesce (lower body) is no longer using a walking boot and might be able to return during Carolina's upcoming second-round series against the Rangers, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports Wednesday.
Pesce had three goals, 13 points, 20 PIM, 25 hits and 113 blocks in 70 regular-season outings. The 29-year-old is likely to serve in a top-four capacity once he's healthy.
