Bradlee Anae NYJ DEFalcons' Bradlee Anae: Inks deal with Atlanta
8m agoAnae (undisclosed) has agreed to terms on a contract with the Falcons, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
This news comes less than 24 hours after Anae's tryout in Atlanta. His 2023 season came to an end early, as the Jets placed him on injured reserve nearly one year ago with an undisclosed injury presumably suffered during offseason workouts. The defensive end's addition to Atlanta's roster indicates his health is back up to par, so he will now compete for a role in the trenches.

Gerrid Doaks HOU RBGerrid Doaks: Cut by Houston
16h agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

As a senior at Florida Atlantic, Burton hauled in 24 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns. Miami's wide receiver depth chart will be tough to crack for any undrafted rookie ahead of 2024.

Camp did not see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at wide receiver in the draft, it opted to cut him. He'll now have to search for another chance with a different franchise.

Pierce agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Panthers back in January, but they decided to let him go after adding talent at tight end in the draft. He'll now look for another chance with a new team.

Brown didn't see the field in 2023, and after Carolina added talent at running back in the draft, it has now decided to cut him loose. He'll revert to injured reserve assuming he clears waivers.

6m agoLindor went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Atlanta.
The veteran shortstop took Charlie Morton deep in the seventh innings to get the Mets on the board, but they were already facing a 4-0 deficit at that point. Lindor has had a good start to May, batting .276 (8-for-29) through eight games with 10 RBI, but on the season he still carries a disappointing .212/.282/.404 slash line with seven homers, four steals, 21 RBI and 22 runs in 37 contests.

7m agoGoodrum went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base Friday in a loss to the Royals.
Goodrum was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Thursday and made his Angels debut one day later, starting at third base and batting fifth in the order. Though he went hitless in his team debut, the utility man drew a walk in his first plate appearance and subsequently stole second base. Goodrum could get regular at-bats given his versatility and Los Angeles' drastically depleted infield. He's struggled to make contact during his career as a major-leaguer but has demonstrated good speed with 47 stolen bases on 61 attempts.

Christian Scott NYM PMets' Christian Scott: No hard innings cap this season
10m agoThe Mets don't have a hard innings limit in mind for Scott this season, despite the fact that he's never thrown more than 87.2 innings in a season dating back to his college days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
That doesn't mean the 24-year-old right-hander is headed for a 200-inning campaign, of course. Instead, the team will rely on biometric data to make sure Scott's mechanics and pitch quality aren't deteriorating as his workload builds up. "The other way didn't work," pitching coach Jeremy Hefner said this week, referencing the fact that injuries around the league weren't curtailed in the past by focusing on the volume of innings a pitcher threw relative to prior years. "So this is the information in front of us. You try to make the best decision possible with the information that you have." Scott could still be facing a shutdown later this summer if he shows signs of fatigue, but after posting a 3.20 ERA and 36:6 K:BB through 25.1 innings for Triple-A Syracuse before an impressive big-league debut May 4 against the Rays, the Mets will keep him in the rotation as long as he's producing strong results.

18m agoAdell went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to Kansas City.
Adell accounted for the Angels' only run with a 436-foot solo shot to center field. That held up until the ninth inning, when the Royals scored twice off Los Angeles closer Carlos Estevez to emerge with a comeback win. Adell has put together a modest four-game hitting streak, during which he has gone 5-for-15 with two homers and three RBI.

Orelvis Martinez TOR SSBlue Jays' Orelvis Martinez: Exits after HBP
32m agoMartinez left Friday's game with Triple-A Buffalo in the eighth inning after being hit on the right knee by a pitch, Julia Kreuz of MLB.com reports.
The 22-year-old tried to take first base but was showing pain in his first couple steps, so he was removed as a precaution. The injury doesn't appear to be serious, but Martinez could be held out for the rest of the weekend series against Worcester if the Blue Jays want to make sure their top hitting prospect is 100 percent before he gets back in the lineup. Martinez is slashing .276/.359/.551 through 34 games for Buffalo with nine homers and a 13:31 BB:K.

41m agoAcuna went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's win over the Mets.
He took Jose Quintana deep in the third inning, part of a four-run frame for Atlanta. Acuna may be turning things around at the plate -- after posting a 26.5 percent strikeout rate in April, he's fanned just 19.4 percent of the time through the first seven games in May. He's also batting .310 (9-for-29) to begin the month with two of his three homers on the season.

Jalen Brunson NY PGKnicks' Jalen Brunson: Struggles with shot in Game 3
3m agoBrunson supplied 26 points (10-26 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-7 FT), six assists and one steal over 38 minutes during Friday's 111-106 loss to the Pacers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brunson's final stat line looks decent overall, but the fact that he needed 26 shots to score 26 points can't be overlooked. The star guard has been one of the league's best players during the current playoff run, and the Knicks need him to be more efficient ahead of a pivotal Game 4 on Sunday. This was just a bump on the road for Brunson, however, as he's shooting 50 percent from the field while averaging 32.7 points per game so far in the series.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker MIN SFTimberwolves' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Appears to hurt shoulder Friday
1h agoAlexander-Walker played through an apparent left shoulder injury before he was ejected with 5:44 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Timberwolves' 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinal round, Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "Right now, it hurts," Alexander-Walker said of his shoulder. "We'll see what happens [Saturday] when I wake up and everything's settled."
Alexander-Walker scored six points (2-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and added two assists in 26 minutes off the bench before he and Kyle Anderson were both assessed technical fouls midway through the fourth quarter for arguing with officials. He appeared to hurt his shoulder shortly before the ejection, as he was on the receiving end of a hard screen, and his frustration with the officials stemmed from what he perceived as a missed foul call. The reserve wing's status is now in question for Sunday's Game 4.

11h agoPorter ended with 21 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 30 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter provided a nice lift offensively for Denver in its first win of the conference semifinals, leading all Nuggets in threes made while ending as one of three players with 20 or more points in Game 3. Porter had a bounce-back performance after failing to reach double figures in scoring in Game 2, and he has now posted 20 or more points in two of the three games against Minnesota.

11h agoJokic notched 24 points (10-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 14 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic did a little bit of everything for Denver in a much-needed Game 3 win on the road, leading all players in Friday's contest in rebounds, assists and blocks while adding a team-high-tying trio of steals and concluding as one of three Nuggets with 20 or more points. Jokic, who ended one dime shy of a triple-double, tallied his second straight double-double and has posted at least 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in every game of the conference semifinals thus far. Jokic looked much more comfortable in Game 3 than we saw earlier in the series, which could be great news for Denver as it tries to even the series.

Murray came out of the gates with a sense of urgency and a prove-it mentality in Friday's much-needed win for Denver, posting a team-high-tying scoring total and leading all players in the contest in shots made while tallying a team-high-tying pair of steals in a balanced outing. Murray, who notched his only single-digit scoring game of the postseason in Game 2, bounced back with a big performance to help the Nuggets get back into the series against the Timberwolves. Murray has surpassed the 20-point mark in six of his eight playoff contests thus far.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Leader from deep in Game 3 loss
11h agoTowns posted 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 33 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns didn't get much going offensively outside of connecting on a team-high mark from three, ending the contest as one of four players with a double-digit point total to go along with a handful of rebounds in a losing effort. Towns failed to reach the 15-point mark for just the second time this postseason, and he had scored at least 20 points in each of the first two games against Denver. Towns may have to come out in Game 4 looking for more opportunities offensively and displaying more aggressiveness if Minnesota wants to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

9h agoSoucy logged an assist and two PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Soucy has found more success in the second round with three helpers over two games after he put up just one assist in six contests during the first round versus the Predators. The 29-year-old blueliner isn't expected to put up a lot of offense while filling a bottom-four role on defense. Soucy has added 24 hits, seven blocked shots, four PIM and a plus-2 rating through eight playoff contests.

Quinn Hughes VAN DCanucks' Quinn Hughes: Helps out on power play
9h agoHughes logged a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Hughes is up to six helpers over eight playoff games, and three of those assists have come on the power play. He helped out on an Elias Pettersson tally in this contest. Hughes has added 11 shots on net, six blocked shots and a minus-1 rating while continuing to play massive minutes on the Canucks' top pairing.

Miller helped out on an Elias Pettersson power-play goal in the first period and a Nikita Zadorov even-strength tally in the second. This was Miller's third multi-point effort of the playoffs. He's up to two goals, seven helpers, 18 shots on net, 27 hits and a plus-5 rating through eight postseason appearances in his usual top-six role.

Boeser has gotten on the scoresheet in six of eight playoff games, earning five goals and three assists. He put the Canucks ahead 2-1 in the second period of Friday's game. The winger has added 18 shots on net and a plus-3 rating while skating in a top-six role this postseason.

Zadorov helped out on a Brock Boeser goal early in the second period before scoring one of his own late in the frame. The 29-year-old Zadorov has back-to-back multi-point efforts and continues to stand out in the postseason. He's up to four goals, three assists, 14 shots on net, 28 hits, 11 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through eight playoff appearances.

Elias Pettersson VAN CCanucks' Elias Pettersson: Finds twine in loss
9h agoPettersson scored a power-play goal on two shots and added two hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Pettersson opened the scoring at 4:14 of the first period. The tally was his first since April 10, and he managed just four helpers and 13 shots on net over the 10 contests between goals. Pettersson is at four points, 13 shots on net and 16 hits through eight postseason appearances, which is not great production from a top-six center who posted 34 goals and 89 points in the regular season.
