1h agoThe Seahawks waived Cordeiro on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Cordeiro's landed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent Friday. The 24-year-old out of San Jose State would have likely competed for a spot on the Seahawks' practice squad this offseason, but he'll now look to latch on elsewhere ahead of the 2024 campaign.

6h agoHines (knee) said Tuesday he expects to be available for the start of training camp, Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland reports.
Hines underwent surgery to repair his left ACL last August, then was released by the Bills in March after missing the entire 2023 season. Assuming he's indeed healthy by the start of training camp, Hines should compete for third-down snaps in the backfield and return work on special teams. With Nick Chubb working his way back from a serious knee injury of his own and no lock to be ready for Week 1, Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman are likely to operate as Cleveland's top backs to begin training camp.

8h agoMiller agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract with the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Miller reunites with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh, after he logged a 11-161-2 receiving line across 17 appearances in 2023 in Atlanta, where Smith had served as the head coach. The wideout now gets a chance to compete with names like Quez Watkins, Denzel Mims, Marquez Callaway and Dez Fitzpatrick for a depth role with the Steelers this offseason.

8h agoSpector (back) is expected to compete with Dorian Williams for Buffalo's top backup role at linebacker, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Spector appears to be recovered from the back injury that ended his 2023 season early, and his spot on the 53-man roster heading into training camp appears secure due to his standing as a key special-teams contributor. Because of his draft capital as a 2023 third-round pick, Williams will likely be the favorite to win the top backup role this offseason, but Spector could have a solid chance to earn more opportunities if he can impress in workouts.

8h agoDavis (concussion) could be on the bubble for a spot on the Ravens' season-opening roster heading into training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Armour-Davis, a 2022 fourth-round pick, suited up for just four games as a rookie, then eight games in 2023 before ending the season on injured reserve with a concussion. He could have his work cut out to earn a roster spot, especially given that he mostly contributed on special teams in 2023.

8h agoThe Cowboys informed Bryant on Wednesday that he will be released, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Bryant, who last suited up for an NFL game in 2018 with the Raiders, signed a reserve/future contract with Dallas earlier this offseason but will now have to search for an opportunity to reignite his career elsewhere. His release won't result in any dead money against the salary cap for the Cowboys, per Gehlken.

1m agoCandelario started at first base and went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Arizona.
Candelario moved across the diamond from third base to cover first for Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand), who is expected to miss four-to-six weeks. Candelario is one of several Cincinnati bats off to a slow start; the three-hit night raised his season average to .206, just the second day it's been above .200. Santiago Espinal took over for Candelario at third base.

2m agoTurang went 3-for-4 with three doubles, an RBI and a run scored during Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Kansas City.
Turang reached safely four times Wednesday, tagging Brady Singer, Nick Anderson and Tyler Duffey for doubles during the contest while also logging a walk. Turang has been one of the best second basemen in baseball this season, ranking third at the position with a .316 batting average while owning a .826 OPS and a 13.7 percent K Rate.

9m agoLange (0-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit to take the loss in Wednesday's 5-4, 10-inning contest against the Guardians.
After recording the final out of the ninth inning, Lange had the unenviable task of pitching the bottom of the 10th with a runner starting on second base. The righty retired the first batter but then allowed a walk-off hit to Brayan Rocchio. There shouldn't be too much read into the loss, and Lange has pitched well all season, as he's sitting with a stellar 0.64 ERA across 14 innings. Lange should continue to see high-leverage work for the Tigers moving forward, and he could slide back into the closer role at some point if he keeps up the strong play.

10m agoWitt went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two additional runs scored during Wednesday's 6-4 win over Milwaukee.
Witt collected his fifth long ball of the campaign Wednesday, tagging Joel Payamps for a long ball to lead off the eighth inning. Witt also notched a double in the first inning and was brought in on a Michael Massey sacrifice fly. Witt has logged multiple hits in five of his last eight games with 12 runs scored and a .423 batting average during that stretch.

13m agoFriedl went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Friedl, playing his second game back from nearly two months on the injured list, drove in his first run of the season in the bottom of the ninth to make things interesting. He then stole his first base of the season, putting two runners in scoring position before Joe Mantiply escaped with the save for Arizona. Friedl, who batted leadoff Tuesday against a right-hander, slotted in at eighth in the order Wednesday against left-hander Jordan Montgomery.

17m agoMcArthur picked up the save Wednesday against the Brewers after a perfect two-thirds of an inning.
The ball was handed to Tyler Duffey for the ninth, but after Duffey walked two batters and gave up a double to Brice Turang, McArthur was forced to step in and close the door. The save snapped McArthur out of a two-game slump in which he allowed five runs (four earned) and was charged with two blown saves and two losses. McArthur now has eight saves on the season, which is tied for the fourth most in the AL.

1h agoAnunoby (left hamstring soreness) has been ruled out for the remainder of Wednesday's Game 2 against the Pacers.
Anunoby went straight to the locker room and was grabbing at his left hamstring after a shot attempt late in the third period. He'll be unable to return to the contest, leaving minutes for the likes of Miles McBride, Alec Burks and Precious Achiuwa. Anunoby's status should be monitored closely leading up to Friday's Game 3 at Indiana.

Knicks' OG Anunoby: Heads to locker room
1h agoAnunoby limped to the locker room holding his left hamstring during Wednesday's Game 2 against Indiana, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
After being without Jalen Brunson for portions of the second half, the Knicks could be down Anunoby after he came up limping during the third quarter with what appears to be a left hamstring injury. Until we get an official update from the Knicks, Anunoby should be considered questionable to return. While he's out, Alec Burks, Miles McBride and Precious Achiuwa are the likely candidates for more minutes

1h agoBrunson (foot) has returned for the second half of Wednesday's Game 2 matchup with the Pacers, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
Brunson tweaked his foot during the first half and took an early trip to the locker room, but he started the second half for New York. However, the injury is clearly hampering him, as he's sporting a bit of a limp and he doesn't appear to be able to guard the opposing ball handler. It'll be interesting to see how he finishes the game.

Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Has sore right foot
2h agoBrunson is questionable to return to Wednesday's Game 2 against the Pacers with a sore right foot.
Brunson went to the locker room late in the first and stayed there to start the second. The Knicks have given an update to his status, listing him as questionable to return with soreness in his right foot. Miles McBride should man the point guard spot for as long as Brunson is sidelined.

2h agoBrunson stayed in the locker room following the first quarter for unspecified reasons, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
Brunson exited the contest late in the first period and went back to the locker room with an undisclosed injury and didn't return to the bench to start the second quarter. Until clarification is provided, Brunson should be considered questionable to return. Miles McBride should handle most of the point guard duties, while Shake Milton could see his first action of the playoffs.

Haliburton has been battling back spasms throughout the playoffs, but he'll play through the issue once again Wednesday. However, it's the back spasms could impact his effectiveness considering he scored just six points in 36 minutes during Game 1 on Monday.

1h agoSkinner is expected to guard the road goal in Game 1 against Vancouver on Wednesday, per Thomas Drance of The Athletic.
Skinner earned a respectable 2.59 GAA and .910 save percentage in five first-round contests versus LA. However, he might have difficulty against the Canucks after posting a record of 0-3-0 with a 4.60 GAA and an .830 save percentage across four regular-season appearances versus Vancouver in 2023-24. It wouldn't be surprising to see Skinner challenged regularly by the Canucks, but the Oilers have averaged 4.40 goals per game in the postseason, so they're capable of putting themselves in a position to win even when their goaltending isn't the best.

It will be the Bruins' fourth straight contest without Heinen. The 28-year-old had 17 goals and 36 points in 74 regular-season outings and has supplied one assist across five playoff contests this year. Heinen is likely to serve in a middle-six capacity once he's healthy.

Pettersson should slot into his usual spots on the second line and first power-play unit Wednesday. The 25-year-old pivot was a bit pedestrian in the first round against the Predators, picking up just three helpers across six outings after racking up 34 goals and 89 points through 82 regular-season contests.

Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Making fourth straight start
9h agoSilovs was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, per Kevin Woodley of NHL.com, putting him on track to guard the home crease versus Edmonton in Game 1 on Wednesday.
Silovs was excellent after being thrust into action in the first round versus Nashville due to injuries to Thatcher Demko (knee) and Casey DeSmith, who is now healthy but was dealing with a lower-body injury. Silovs went 2-1-0 while posting an impressive 1.70 GAA and .938 save percentage through three appearances against the Predators. The Connor McDavid-led Oilers offense racked up 22 goals through five games in the first round versus Winnipeg, so Silovs will likely be tested early and often Wednesday.

9h agoLindblom signed a contract with Brynas IF of the SHL on Wednesday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Lindblom appeared in just one game for the Sharks in 2023-24, so it's not surprising to see him head to his native Sweden to continue his professional playing career. At this point, the 27-year-old is unlikely to return to the NHL in the future.

11h agoSwayman was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, per Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald, putting him on track to guard the road goal in Wednesday's Game 2 versus Florida.
Swayman was exceptional in Monday's Game 1, turning aside 38 of 39 shots en route to a convincing 5-1 win. As long as the 25-year-old netminder continues to play at this level, it seems unlikely coach Jim Montgomery will go back to the rotation between Swayman and Linus Ullmark he utilized to open the Bruins' first-round series versus Toronto.
