Nyheim Hines CLE RB
Browns' Nyheim Hines: Expects to be ready for camp
2h agoHines (knee) said Tuesday he expects to be ready for training camp, Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland reports.
Hines underwent surgery to repair his left ACL last August, then was released by the Bills in March after missing the entire 2023 season. Assuming he's indeed able to get back to full health by the start of training camp, Hines should have a solid chance to compete for a third down role out of the backfield while also contributing in the return game. With Nick Chubb (knee) working his way back from an ACL tear of his own and no guarantee to be ready for Week 1, Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman figure to work alongside Hines as Cleveland's top backs during training camp.

Kellen Mond NO QB
Kellen Mond: Waived by New Orleans
2h agoThe Saints waived Mond on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Mond inked with New Orleans prior to the 2024 NFL Draft, but he ends up the odd man out in the team's quarterback room after the additions of rookies Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler. A 2021 third-round pick, Mond will look for an opportunity to compete elsewhere this offseason.
-
Scott Miller ATL WR
Steelers' Scott Miller: Lands in Pittsburgh
4h agoMiller agreed to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract with the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Miller reunites with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in Pittsburgh, after he logged a 11-161-2 receiving line across 17 appearances in 2023 in Atlanta, where Smith had served as the head coach. The wideout now gets a chance to compete with names like Quez Watkins, Denzel Mims, Marquez Callaway and Dez Fitzpatrick for a depth role with the Steelers this offseason.
-
Baylon Spector BUF LB
Bills' Baylon Spector: Fighting for top reserve role
4h agoSpector (back) is competing with Dorian Williams for Buffalo's top backup role at linebacker, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Spector appears to be recovered from the back injury that ended his 2023 season early, and he remains secure as a key special-teams contributor. Because of his draft capital as a 2023 third-round pick, Williams will likely be the favorite to win the top backup role this offseason, but Spector could have a solid chance to earn more opportunities if he can impress.
-
Jalyn Armour-Davis BAL CB
Ravens' Jalyn Armour-Davis: On roster bubble?
5h agoDavis (concussion) could be on the roster bubble to begin training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Armour-Davis, a 2022 fourth-round pick, suited up for just four games as a rookie then eight games in 2023, when he ended year on IR with a concussion. He could have his work cut out to earn a roster spot, especially given that he mostly contributed on special teams in 2023.
-
Martavis Bryant DAL WR
Martavis Bryant: Let go by Dallas
5h agoThe Cowboys informed Bryant on Wednesday that he will be released, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Bryant, who last suited up for an NFL game in 2018 with the Raiders, signed a reserve/future contract with Dallas earlier this offseason but will now have to search for an opportunity to reignite his career elsewhere. His release does not result in any dead money against the salary cap for the Cowboys, per Gehlken.

Jose Urquidy HOU SP
Astros' Jose Urquidy: Starting rehab stint
19m agoAstros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Urquidy (forearm) is likely to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The right-hander threw live batting practice Tuesday and has now been cleared to pitch in minor-league games. Urquidy was shut down with a forearm strain in mid-March and will likely require a handful of rehab starts before making his season debut for the Astros.
-
Tyler Nevin OAK RF
Athletics' Tyler Nevin: Resting during Game 2
31m agoNevin isn't in the Athletics' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Rangers.
Nevin went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Game 1, and he'll step out of the lineup for the nightcap. His absence will move Brent Rooker into right field while Shea Langeliers serves as Oakland's DH, allowing Kyle McCann to start behind the plate.
-
J.D. Davis OAK 3B
Athletics' J.D. Davis: Sitting for nightcap
36m agoDavis isn't in Oakland's lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rangers.
Davis went 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice during a 9-4 victory in Game 1, and he'll catch a breather to conclude Wednesday's activities. Tyler Soderstrom will start at first base instead while batting eighth.
-
Corey Seager TEX SS
Rangers' Corey Seager: Taking seat for nightcap
39m agoSeager is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Athletics.
The 30-year-old went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in the Game 1 loss, which ended a modest five-game hit streak. Josh Smith will shift to shortstop and Ezequiel Duran will start at third base while Seager receives some rest in the nightcap.
-
Brock Stewart MIN RP
Twins' Brock Stewart: MRI on shoulder returns clean
42m agoStewart said a recent MRI on his right shoulder "looked good," and he's hopeful to resume throwing this weekend, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Stewart was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with right shoulder tendinitis, and fortunately for him, the injury doesn't look to be any more significant than that. If Stewart is able to resume playing catch this weekend, he would have an outside chance at returning from the IL when first eligible May 17. Stewart recorded an 0.68 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across 13.1 innings while gathering seven holds in 13 appearances prior to landing on the shelf.
-
Chas McCormick HOU LF
Astros' Chas McCormick: Rehab stint on tap
1h agoManager Joe Espada said Wednesday that McCormick (hamstring) could begin a rehab assignment this weekend, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
The 29-year-old landed on the injured list with hamstring soreness last week, and he is now on the cusp of returning to game action. McCormick will likely only need a few games in the minors to get back up to speed due to the brevity of the absence, though he could use a few extra at-bats given his .603 OPS through 21 games.
-
Thanasis Antetokounmpo MIL PF
Bucks' Thanasis Antetokounmpo: Suffers torn Achilles
37m agoAntetokounmpo sustained a torn Achilles tendon and is set to undergo surgery, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Antetokounmpo has a long road ahead of him, so there's a decent chance he won't be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season. He's also heading into free agency, and unfortunately, it's unlikely he'll receive many, if any, offers while recovering from one of the most devastating injuries in basketball.
-
Dean Wade CLE PF
Cavaliers' Dean Wade: Won't play Thursday
1h agoWade (knee) won't suit up for Thursday's Game 2 matchup with Boston.
Wade has been out of commission for two months now, and with no positive updates to speak of, it's safe to assume he's still not close.
-
Ty Jerome CLE SG
Cavaliers' Ty Jerome: Won't play in Game 2
1h agoJerome (ankle) has been ruled out for Game 2 versus the Celtics on Thursday.
Jerome has not logged a single minute this postseason as he continues to recover from ankle surgery, and there aren't any indications that that'll change anytime soon.
-
Jarrett Allen CLE C
Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Listed as questionable again
1h agoAllen (ribs) is questionable for Thursday's Game 2 against the Celtics.
Despite a negative in-game report from TNT's broadcast saying Allen wasn't able to do much in recent practices and was having trouble sleeping due to the rib injury, coach J.B. Bickerstaff said after the Game 1 loss that the Cavaliers' starting center is showing signs of progress, per Bobby Manning of CLNS. Allen has missed four straight games and was listed as questionable ahead of each contest, so his current status doesn't provide much optimism.
-
Craig Porter Jr. CLE PG
Cavaliers' Craig Porter: Ruled out for Game 2
1h agoPorter will remain on the sidelines for Game 2 against the Celtics on Thursday.
Porter has yet to suit up for any of the Cavaliers' playoff games thus far, but even if he were active, it's unlikely he'd touch the court. His next chance to wear a uniform will come Saturday.
-
Luka Doncic DAL PG
Mavericks' Luka Doncic: Practices, probable for Game 2
4h agoCoach Jason Kidd said Doncic (knee) practiced Wednesday and is probable for Thursday's Game 2 against the Thunder, Brad Townsend of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Doncic continues to play through a right knee sprain but was far from his best in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals, as he finished with 19 points (6-19 FG) and five turnovers. The MVP candidate is shooting just 39.5 percent during the postseason but remains productive and is averaging 28.3 points, 9.4 assists, 8.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 42.3 minutes per game.
-
Elias Pettersson VAN C
Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Ready to rock for Game 1
5h agoPettersson (illness) will play Wednesday in Game 1 versus the Oilers, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports.
Pettersson should slot into his usual spots on the second line and first power-play unit Wednesday. The 25-year-old pivot was a bit pedestrian in the first round against the Predators, picking up just three helpers across six outings after racking up 34 goals and 89 points through 82 regular-season contests.
-
Arturs Silovs VAN G
Canucks' Arturs Silovs: Making fourth straight start
5h agoSilovs was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, per Kevin Woodley of NHL.com, putting him on track to guard the home crease versus Edmonton in Game 1 on Wednesday.
Silovs was excellent after being thrust into action in the first round versus Nashville due to injuries to Thatcher Demko (knee) and Casey DeSmith, who is now healthy but was dealing with a lower-body injury. Silovs went 2-1-0 while posting an impressive 1.70 GAA and .938 save percentage through three appearances against the Predators. The Connor McDavid-led Oilers offense racked up 22 goals through five games in the first round versus Winnipeg, so Silovs will likely be tested early and often Wednesday.
-
Oskar Lindblom SJ LW
Oskar Lindblom: Signs with Swedish club
5h agoLindblom signed a contract with Brynas IF of the SHL on Wednesday, Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Lindblom appeared in just one game for the Sharks in 2023-24, so it's not surprising to see him head to his native Sweden to continue his professional playing career. At this point, the 27-year-old is unlikely to return to the NHL in the future.
-
Jeremy Swayman BOS G
Bruins' Jeremy Swayman: Slated to start
7h agoSwayman was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, per Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald, putting him on track to guard the road goal in Wednesday's Game 2 versus Florida.
Swayman was exceptional in Monday's Game 1, turning aside 38 of 39 shots en route to a convincing 5-1 win. As long as the 25-year-old netminder continues to play at this level, it seems unlikely coach Jim Montgomery will go back to the rotation between Swayman and Linus Ullmark he utilized to open the Bruins' first-round series versus Toronto.
-
Sergei Bobrovsky FLA G
Panthers' Sergei Bobrovsky: In goal for Game 2
8h agoBobrovsky will patrol the home crease during Wednesday's Game 2 versus Boston, Colby Guy of Florida Hockey Now reports.
Bobrovsky struggled in Monday's Game 1 against the Bruins, surrendering four goals on only 28 shots en route to a 5-1 defeat. The 35-year-old netminder will attempt to bounce back and help the Panthers even up the series at one game apiece before heading to Beantown for Game 3 on Friday.
-
Hugh McGing STL C
Blues' Hugh McGing: Signs two-year extension
8h agoMcGing signed a two-year, two-way contract extension with the Blues on Wednesday.
McGing spent most of the 2023-24 campaign with AHL Springfield, picking up eight goals and 39 points through 51 contests, but he also drew into five games with St. Louis, going scoreless over that span. He'll likely continue to fill a similar role for the organization over the next two seasons.
