Gerrid Doaks HOU RBGerrid Doaks: Cut by Houston
15h agoThe Texans waived Doaks on Friday.
Doaks spent most of the past two seasons with Houston's practice squad and had signed a reserve/future contract with the club in January. However, he was cut Friday after the Texans reshaped their running back room in the offseason by trading for Joe Mixon, adding Jawhar Jordan in the draft and signing British Brooks as an undrafted free agent. Doaks has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

Pierce agreed to a reserve/future contract with the Panthers back in January, but they decided to let him go after adding talent at tight end in the draft. He'll now look for another chance with a new team.

17h agoThe Giants waived Jackson (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Jackson suited up for both Cleveland and Indianapolis in 2023, but he demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away and thus spent most of last season on the bench. If he clears waivers, he'll reverted to injured reserve.

Ben Brown CHC RPCubs' Ben Brown: Earns first MLB win in relief
3m agoBrown (1-1) tossed 3.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Friday's 7-2 victory over the Pirates. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out six.
Starter Javier Assad got the hook after 4.1 innings and 89 pitches, which opened the door for Brown to provide some valuable long relief. The 24-year-old was sharp as he recorded a season- and career-best six strikeouts, and the rookie picked up his first MLB win in the process. Brown's fantasy value is limited in his long relief role, but he's pitched well in his debut, compiling 33 strikeouts across 31.1 innings and posting a solid 3.73 ERA, and he has some upside moving forward.

3m agoRizzo went 2-for-4 with a home run and two total RBI in Friday's 2-0 win over Tampa Bay.
Rizzo accounted for both runs in the contest, knocking an RBI single in the fourth inning and providing some insurance with a solo homer in the ninth. The veteran first baseman has reached base safely in all but one of his eight games so far in May, slashing .296/.406/.519 with two homers and seven RBI over that stretch. With seven long balls and 22 RBI through 39 games on the campaign, Rizzo is already more than halfway to the totals he posted over 99 contests last season.

8m agoKiner-Falefa went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Twins.
The utility infielder popped a solo shot off Joe Ryan in the third inning and brought home Bo Bichette with a ninth-inning single, but the rest of the Blue Jays' offense was quiet on the night. Kiner-Falefa is batting .379 (11-for-29) over the last nine games as he fills a nearly everyday role while bouncing between second base and third base, but Friday's homer was just his second of the season, and his first extra-base since April 19.

9m agoHapp went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 7-2 win over the Pirates.
Happ is off to a bit of a slow start this season, as he's batting just .231 overall with a .661 OPS, but he's been better in May. The outfielder is batting .281 this month with a .707 OPS. What's keeping him from really taking off is a lack of power. Happ is still stuck on just one home run through 36 games after clubbing 21 long balls last year. His fantasy value will remain capped until he starts driving the baseball a bit more.

Yusei Kikuchi TOR SPBlue Jays' Yusei Kikuchi: Stuck with tough loss Friday
11m agoKikuchi (2-3) took the loss Friday as the Blue Jays were downed 3-2 by the Twins, giving up two runs on four hits over eight innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.
The left-hander pounded the strike zone, firing 68 of 97 pitches for strikes in his fifth quality start of the year, and he generated plenty of weak contact -- even Carlos Santana's solo homer in the fifth inning had a sub-100 mph exit velocity and barely made it over the fence down the right-field line. It was the longest outing of Kikuchi's Toronto tenure, and his longest MLB start since he gave the Mariners a shutout win in August 2019, which coincidentally was against the Jays. Kikuchi will take a 2.64 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 46:9 K:BB through 47.2 innings into his next trip to the mound, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Baltimore.

17m agoSantana went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays.
The veteran first baseman got his bat on a pitch out of the strike zone in the fifth inning against Yusei Kikuchi and poked it just fair down the right-field line, putting the Twins in the lead for good. Santana has been productive over the last few weeks -- all five of his homers on the season have come in his last 15 games, a stretch in which he's slashing .264/.328/.585 with eight runs and 12 RBI.

Michael Porter Jr. DEN SFNuggets' Michael Porter: Strong from deep in 21-point Game 3
10h agoPorter ended with 21 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal over 30 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Porter provided a nice lift offensively for Denver in its first win of the conference semifinals, leading all Nuggets in threes made while ending as one of three players with 20 or more points in Game 3. Porter had a bounce-back performance after failing to reach double figures in scoring in Game 2, and he has now posted 20 or more points in two of the three games against Minnesota.

Nikola Jokic DEN CNuggets' Nikola Jokic: Nears triple-double in Game 3 win
10h agoJokic notched 24 points (10-18 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 14 rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Jokic did a little bit of everything for Denver in a much-needed Game 3 win on the road, leading all players in Friday's contest in rebounds, assists and blocks while adding a team-high-tying trio of steals and concluding as one of three Nuggets with 20 or more points. Jokic, who ended one dime shy of a triple-double, tallied his second straight double-double and has posted at least 15 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in every game of the conference semifinals thus far. Jokic looked much more comfortable in Game 3 than we saw earlier in the series, which could be great news for Denver as it tries to even the series.

Jamal Murray DEN PGNuggets' Jamal Murray: Responds with strong Game 3
10h agoMurray finished with 24 points (11-21 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five assists, four rebounds and three steals over 38 minutes in Friday's 117-90 win over the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Murray came out of the gates with a sense of urgency and a prove-it mentality in Friday's much-needed win for Denver, posting a team-high-tying scoring total and leading all players in the contest in shots made while tallying a team-high-tying pair of steals in a balanced outing. Murray, who notched his only single-digit scoring game of the postseason in Game 2, bounced back with a big performance to help the Nuggets get back into the series against the Timberwolves. Murray has surpassed the 20-point mark in six of his eight playoff contests thus far.

Karl-Anthony Towns MIN PFTimberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Leader from deep in Game 3 loss
10h agoTowns posted 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists over 33 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Towns didn't get much going offensively outside of connecting on a team-high mark from three, ending the contest as one of four players with a double-digit point total to go along with a handful of rebounds in a losing effort. Towns failed to reach the 15-point mark for just the second time this postseason, and he had scored at least 20 points in each of the first two games against Denver. Towns may have to come out in Game 4 looking for more opportunities offensively and displaying more aggressiveness if Minnesota wants to take a commanding 3-1 series advantage.

Anthony Edwards MIN SGTimberwolves' Anthony Edwards: Nears 20 points as top scorer
10h agoEdwards recorded 19 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt), six rebounds, five assists and one block over 37 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Edwards did all he could to help Minnesota climb back into Friday's contest, leading all Timberwolves players in scoring to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and handful of assists in a balanced outing. Edwards tallied his lowest point total of the conference semifinals, taking a bit of a step back after a pair of impressive performances in Denver earlier in the series. Look for Edwards to step up and lead Minnesota in Game 4 as the team attempts to make a statement at home and take a 3-1 lead over Denver.

Rudy Gobert MIN CTimberwolves' Rudy Gobert: Quiet in Game 3 return
10h agoGobert tallied six points (3-5 FG, 0-2 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 27 minutes in Friday's 117-90 loss to the Nuggets in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
Gobert returned in Game 3 after missing the previous contest due to the birth of his child, putting forth a quiet outing in Minnesota's first loss of the postseason. Gobert failed to reach double figures in both points and rebounds, not tallying 10 or more boards for the third time in the postseason and not crossing the double-digit scoring mark for the third time. In order for Minnesota to bounce back in Sunday's Game 4, Gobert may have to put together a much stronger showing than he did Friday in Minneapolis.

7h agoSoucy logged an assist and two PIM in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Soucy has found more success in the second round with three helpers over two games after he put up just one assist in six contests during the first round versus the Predators. The 29-year-old blueliner isn't expected to put up a lot of offense while filling a bottom-four role on defense. Soucy has added 24 hits, seven blocked shots, four PIM and a plus-2 rating through eight playoff contests.

Quinn Hughes VAN DCanucks' Quinn Hughes: Helps out on power play
7h agoHughes logged a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Hughes is up to six helpers over eight playoff games, and three of those assists have come on the power play. He helped out on an Elias Pettersson tally in this contest. Hughes has added 11 shots on net, six blocked shots and a minus-1 rating while continuing to play massive minutes on the Canucks' top pairing.

8h agoMiller logged two assists, three hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Miller helped out on an Elias Pettersson power-play goal in the first period and a Nikita Zadorov even-strength tally in the second. This was Miller's third multi-point effort of the playoffs. He's up to two goals, seven helpers, 18 shots on net, 27 hits and a plus-5 rating through eight postseason appearances in his usual top-six role.

Boeser has gotten on the scoresheet in six of eight playoff games, earning five goals and three assists. He put the Canucks ahead 2-1 in the second period of Friday's game. The winger has added 18 shots on net and a plus-3 rating while skating in a top-six role this postseason.

8h agoZadorov scored a goal on two shots, dished an assist and added three hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Zadorov helped out on a Brock Boeser goal early in the second period before scoring one of his own late in the frame. The 29-year-old Zadorov has back-to-back multi-point efforts and continues to stand out in the postseason. He's up to four goals, three assists, 14 shots on net, 28 hits, 11 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through eight playoff appearances.

Elias Pettersson VAN CCanucks' Elias Pettersson: Finds twine in loss
8h agoPettersson scored a power-play goal on two shots and added two hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.
Pettersson opened the scoring at 4:14 of the first period. The tally was his first since April 10, and he managed just four helpers and 13 shots on net over the 10 contests between goals. Pettersson is at four points, 13 shots on net and 16 hits through eight postseason appearances, which is not great production from a top-six center who posted 34 goals and 89 points in the regular season.
